The La Granja Project is being developed under a comprehensive sustainability approach, aligned with modern mining principles and international standards for environmental, social, and governance management. This approach is implemented from the earliest stages of the project, including exploration, incorporating environmental, social, and community relations criteria into the planning and execution of its activities.
Within this framework, sustainability is not conceived as an isolated component, but as a cross-cutting principle that guides technical, operational, and management decision-making for the project. The objective is to promote a balanced coexistence between mining activity, the protection of natural resources, and the development of opportunities for surrounding communities.
The project's environmental policy prioritizes the responsible care and management of water, recognizing it as an essential resource for people, agriculture, and ecosystems. La Granja Project implements continuous environmental monitoring—of water, air, and soil quality, noise, and biodiversity—combining state-of-the-art technology with participatory monitoring alongside local communities. The project incorporates engineering and management controls to prevent, mitigate, or offset impacts, strictly adhering to current environmental management instruments and the commitments established in our socio-environmental studies (EIS).
The project's social sustainability is based on transparent dialogue, active listening, and respect for the communities in its area of influence. From the early stages of the project, a relationship based on trust, timely information, and participation is fostered, integrating the concerns and aspirations of the local area into project management.
Within this framework, the project promotes various initiatives focused on community development, education, institutional strengthening, inclusion, employment, and the development of sustainable productive activities. The La Granja Social Fund is one of the main mechanisms for channeling some of these efforts within the project's direct area of influence.
Taken together, these actions seek to generate real and long-term opportunities for communities, promoting sustainable development processes and avoiding the generation of unrealistic short-term expectations.
The project's sustainability approach recognizes the importance of coexistence between mining and agriculture as part of balanced territorial development. Under this approach, the project's conceptual design and infrastructure incorporate criteria to minimize its environmental and social footprint, respecting populated areas and land uses, and promoting conditions that allow for the coexistence of local productive activities.
The La Granja Project operates under high standards of ethics, integrity, and transparency, providing clear and timely information on the project's status, studies, scope, and limitations. Sustainability is managed with a long-term vision, strengthening trust with authorities, communities, and other key stakeholders, and ensuring consistency between technical, social, and environmental performance.
